Federal sentencing events excluded from citizenship comparisons.
Calculation
Count as published. Any share = selected group count / same-period, same-offence total × 100. No population crime rate is calculated.
Population denominator
Not applicable to counts; displayed shares use the same series total.
Limitations & comparability
Federal felony and Class A misdemeanor sentencing events, not all U.S. crime or necessarily unique people. Fiscal year October–September. Each Table 9 release reports its excluded cases with unknown citizenship separately. Citizenship does not identify foreign-born or unauthorized status. Each case has one primary offence. Immigration offences are kept separate. Enforcement priorities and federal jurisdiction shape the caseload.
Justice stages, offences and citizenship definitions differ. Totals are not a cross-country crime ranking. Counts do not establish causation.
