What this measures
Third-country nationals; all citizenships and permit durations of at least three months
Calculation
Published official count; no calculation.
Limitations
First residence permits for third-country nationals valid for at least three months. A first permit can follow a gap of at least six months from a previous permit. Not unique arrivals, visas, citizenship or the foreign-born population. Free movement is outside this measure. Original Eurostat status flags are preserved for each observation: b = break, e = estimate, p = provisional, d = differing definition. No interpolation. Release update date is used as the publication date.
Birthplace, citizenship, migration flows, permits and asylum applicants measure different populations. A b flag breaks the time series; growth is suppressed across breaks. All ages use the source age definition; duplicate all-age definitions must agree.
